Revision of the Professional Qualifications Directive
UEMS Statement: "Promoting Continuing Professional Development in the EU"
On the occasion of its meeting in Brussels on 20th April 2013, the Council of UEMS considered recent developments relating to the revision process of the EU Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications (2005/36/EC), particularly its Article 22 related to “continued education and training”.
In doing so, the Members of Council endorsed a statement whereby they called for increased dialogue and co-operation between EU Member States in the field of CPD.
Medical Specialties
The UEMS represents more than 50 medical disciplines through various bodies and structures. The most important ones are the 39 Specialist Sections, which represent independently recognised specialties. They each created a European Board as a subgroup,...
National Member Associations
The UEMS currently represents 34 countries through their national associations of medical specialists. They all sit on the UEMS Council, which is the main decision-making body of the organisation, with voting rights and nominate the national delegates to the UEMS Sections.
